Survivalrunning Training
Besides that training with a group of people at a training club is alot of fun, it is also strongly recommended if you want to get some serious results in a Survivalrun race. As mentioned before the obstacles require quite some technique. 30m Traverse ropes and +20m combination obstacles are absolutely no exception.
Every training club has their own, mostly self build obstacles so members can train for the specific technique, strength and endurance needed for Survivalruns. Training locations get a quality check once a year. Alot of these training clubs have trainers with years of experience (some over 20 years). By mastering the techniques you can save alot of strength. Your energie is limited, your technique is not!

Because of the obstacle builders creativity and the option to connect obstacles (combiniation obstacles) a survivalrunning training offers a lot of variety. The kind of training given at Survivalrun training clubs is also very useful for OCR.
In The Netherlands and Belgium there are over 70 training clubs. There is also 1 training club in Sweden (Uppsala). Unfortunally there are no Survivalrun training clubs in other countries (yet). COMPETING & RACES
There are over 32 race organizations in The Netherlands and Belgium. Race organizations have to earn a licence to organize a race for one of the categories of the season's competition. Because races mostly got more than 1 category, the obstacles are build in a way that they are hard enough for the harder categories, but can also be done by the lighter categories depending on the way the obstacle has to be 'taken'. Some obstacles are only for the hardest categories. At every race there are also categories for the main public, so people who don't train specificatly for Survivalrun can also participate.

(TSC: 21k) Althought this edition can be considered a little bit too light/easy, the video does give an fair impression of a survivalrun. Number 1 finished in 1:59. This competitor was 19th and needed 2:26.

The competition season starts in September and the last race is in June.
Because the obstacles can be complex, organisations limit the amount of participants per day between 700 - 1800. This way they try to avoid queues at the obstacles. This limitation of the amount of participants is also better the safety and quality of the race. Would you like to know more about Survivalrun races, the competion, or join a race?
